Many of you want to know what type of work an EDO actually does, so we asked Bill Kadachuk, an Aboriginal economic development officer from the Paskwayak Development Corporation in The Pas, Manitoba, to answer some commonly asked questions.

Bill has also earned his technician level C.E.D., and is in the final stages of earning his Professional designation.

  • How long have you been an EDO? "I've been an Economic Development Officer/Manager for approximately ten years."

  • What made you decide to become an EDO?  "I was a snowmobile/outboard motor technician at a local repair shop for about six years.  It was during the latter part of 1989 that I realized I did not want to be a repair technician for the rest of my life and decided to upgrade my education.  As luck would have it, there was an advertisement in our local newspaper for an EDO Trainee.  I applied for the job, was successful and ever since then I've continued to upgrade my academic standing while providing economic & business development services and training for our First Nation members."
