What
is CANDO?

CANDO
was established in 1990 when 50 Aboriginal economic development officers (EDOs) from
across Canada decided to address the lack of support for EDOs.
The result was the creation of an
organization whose goal was to strengthen Canada's Aboriginal economies by providing EDOs
with the training, education, and networking opportunities needed to serve their
communities as professionals.
CANDO is a federally registered,
non-profit society that is Aboriginal-controlled, community-based, and membership-driven,
and is directed by a national volunteer Board of elected EDOs representing each region of
Canada.
CANDO has been instrumental in
facilitating partnerships with expert academics, skilled EDOs, Aboriginal leaders, and
senior corporate representatives to work toward a common goal - strengthening Aboriginal
economies across Canada.
