You're good!
When falcons raised in captivity are ready
to be released, they are often placed in special bird houses
called hack boxes. The hack boxes are located on a cliff,
building or other suitable habitat. Food is provided through
a tube by someone called a hack attendant until the birds
are old enough to fly and hunt for themselves. The hack box
protects the young birds from the weather and predators. The
chicks can be put into the box anywhere between 2 and 5 weeks
of age. When they are about 38 days old, the hack boxes are
opened and the young falcons soon instinctively learn to fly
and hunt. |
