Phylum Study

1. Choose a Phylum to study from the following list:

  1. Porifera - sponges
  2. Cnidaria (Coelenterates) - Sea anemones, jelly fish, corals
  3. Annelida - segmented worms
  4. Mollusca - snails, bivalves, limpets, squid, octopi
  5. Arthropoda - crabs, barnacles, shrimp
  6. Echinodermata - sea cucumbers, sea stars, sea urchins
  7. Chordata - fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals

2. Record representatives of your phylum in touch tanks and/or the wild.

3. Write a report and be sure to include the following information:

  1. A general description of the phylum
  2. A labeled diagram of one representative of the phylum. Be sure to include a scale for your drawing
  3. A brief description and diagram of the life cycle of the organism you drew.
  4. Produce a species list for your phylum from your general species list.
