Big Muddy, The - An area south west of the Missouri Coteau that's landscape was formed after the last ice age by a melting glacier. Similar to the "Badlands" of North and South Dakota.

Colonized- To form or establish a new settlement.

Effigy- A likeness or image.

Escarpment- A steep slope or long cliff that results from erosion or faulting and separates two relatively level areas of differing elevations.

Gang Plow- A plow in which several shares are attached to one frame, so as to make two or more furrows at the same time.

Implements- A tool or an instrument used in doing work.

Lignite- A type of coal

Sulky Plow- Is a plow with a seat for the driver.
