Saskatchewan,
along with all other parts of North America has a rich Aboriginal
history. Discoveries near the area indicate habitation 5200 years
ago. These discoveries give evidence of people more advanced than
those of the Paleo-Indian period. These people were semi-nomadic
and had trading contacts. During the 1 to 800 AD period Besant
people dominated the region. Later the area was dominated by Cree
and Dakota Sioux.
