Richard Gladue
Graduating from High School in 1975, Chief Richard Gladue worked in the capacity as a community development officer with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) and was employed as a Band Manager for his own First Nation from 1976-1978.

From 1978-1981 he worked as a Band Management Officer with Indian and Northern Affairs and served in the capacity of a Council Member of his own First Nation for a period of four years.

Prior to being elected as Chief of the Flying Dust First Nation, Chief Gladue obtained his Diploma of Business Administration from the University of Regina.

As Chief of his own First Nation (Flying Dust) for a period of 10 years (1984-1994) where he represented the membership on issues related to economic and social development, education, political and fiscal operational activities.

During his term as Chief of the Flying Dust First Nation his additional responsibilities were:

  • Chairman - MLTC Health and Social Development Authority
  • Chairman - MLTC Economic Development Commission
  • Boardmember - Norsask Forest Products
  • Boardmember - Canadian Aboriginal Strategy (Western Board) - now known as Aboriginal Business Canada or ABC
  • Boardmember - FSIN Economic Development Commission
  • Boardmember - Northern Medical Research and Development Committee
  • Boardmember - Provincial Health Council
  • Boardmember - FSIN Health and Social Development Commission

Chief Richard Gladue is the Tribal Chief of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council, which represents nine First Nations in northwestern Saskatchewan. In this position, Chief Gladue provides leadership and direction to the organization through the respective leadership, elders, and membership of the communities.

In addition, Chief Gladue currently serves in the following capacities:

  • Chairman - MLTC Health and Social Development Authority
  • Chairman - Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority
  • Boardmember - Sask-Tel
  • Boardmember - Executive Council of the FSIN
  • Boardmember - FSIN Health and Social Development Commission
  • Boardmember - Contigo - Non Governmental Organization (NGO) - Created by MLTC for the Nicaraguan Project
