Senator Edwin Pelletier was born on
Cowessess Reserve on April 18, 1915. He attended
Marieval Residental School from age 6 to 15 years
old. After leaving school, Edwin worked for local
farmers, until he enlisted in the Armed Forces in
1940 to 1946 - 15 F.L.D. Rgt. R.C.A. (Field
Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery).
Pelletier
married Lucy Acoose from the Sakimay Reserve and
daughter of Mr. & Mrs. King Acoose. They had
twelve children, forty-five grandchildren,
countless members of great-grandchildren, and
great great grandchildren.

Pelletier recieved an honorable discharge from
the Armed Forces in 1946 and returned to Cowessess
Reserve, where he began farming for a number of years. In
1964, Pelletier drove a school bus for 20 years. At the
same time, he was elected Band counsellor for eight
consecutive terms which is approximately 22 years. During
this time, Pelletier worked on the Land Claims
Entitlement for many years.

Pelletier
worked with the FSIN for approximately 18 years
as Senator. He is honored to have contributed and
been part of this great and strong organization.
As a veteran, he is grateful for the many
accomplishments and the opportunity to serve our
people and our country. He is now 83 years old
and retired. |

is: "To encourage young children to
study hard in school, education is very important
today. Listen and respect your teachers and
leaders." |
His message to
the youth: "Get involved with your
communities. Be good leaders, be an example for
younger generations, honor and respect your
elders, drugs and alcohol is not our way of
life." |
