1902- Mine Disaster
The evening of May 22 1902, 128 miners were killed instantly in an explosion at Coal Creek Mine. It was the worst mining disaster in British Columbia’s History.

1904 - Downtown Fire
On April 29th the downtown core of Fernie became engulfed in flames. Fernie’s entire business section was burnt to the ground.

1908 - The Great Fire
The Great Fire of 1908 took only 90 minutes to destroy all of Fernie. It is was known as one of Western Canada’s most devastating fires.
