James Robert Anderson

James Anderson was born at Fort Nisqually in 1841. He and his sister came to Fort Victoria in 1850 with their father Alexander Caulfield Anderson. He worked for the post office and customs department in his youth, and eventually became secretary to J.H. Turner, Minister of Finance. He wrote "Notes and Comments on Early Days and Events in British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon" late in his life.
