Dairy Farming |
Although there was grazing land available for dairy cattle, there was no efficient means of transporting the produce. Butter could be sealed in cans and shipped out on a boat, but milk would go so sour long before it got to the consumer.
This changed with the completion of the B.C. Electric Railroad; milk could be delivered fast enough to prevent spoilage. Thus it became known as the "Milk Train".. |
