Doukhobors The Doukhobors were members of a Russian Christian group that migrated to Canada in the 1890's to escape persecution for their views at home. Many settled in the Kootenays, Okanagon and Interior. This picture, taken in 1899, shows them working the land by hand, as well as using oxen. . Take Me Back!
