Coffee Grinder (21kb)
Coffee Grinder

Miners at Hill's Bar couldn't order espresso at a corner café, they would load coffee in this style of grinder and turn the hand crank. The ground coffee would collect in the small drawer at the bottom. This ground coffee would be placed in a small kettle or pot, filled with water and boiled over an open fire. Once the coffee had reached a boil, the pot would be removed from the fire an allowed to sit for a few moments to allow the grounds to sink to the bottom before the coffee was poured off the top.
