Cow Head  1957

The co-operative movement was started in Cow Head in the 1940's because the fisherman were often at the mercy of the merchants and lost a percentage of their earnings. The slogan of the co-operatives was, "Do your own business, with your money, for your own advantage. The Cow Head Co-Operative was soon closed after this picture was taken.
