The children in the photograph are L-R baby-Leah, Doily, Roll and Amy. Notice the barrel. Most families had a water barrel to catch rain water. Since water had to be brought from a brook water caught in a barrel could be very helpful on washdays. Mondays were traditional wash days in this area (weather permitting).
