St. Paul's 1955

The first flat top ferry used at St. Paul's was built by Lundrigans in Corner Brook to take road building equipment across the tickle. It was kept afloat by empty oil barrels and it had to be winched across by hand. It had a cable on the bottom attached to both sides of the tickle. Around 1957, Mr. Butler, the Superintendent of Transportation, came and told the residents of St. Paul's that  they were building a new ferry for the Department of Highways and offered George Bennett the position of foreman. George and Arthur Bennett towed the new ferry with their own boat.
