Bonne Bay 1942 or 1943

When drift ice fills the outer part of Bonne Bay and the arms freeze over all the little communities around the bay are accessable to anyone who is willing to walk.  Occasionally snowshoes are needed.  In the early days most residents travelled by horse and dogteam.  Snowmobiles are popular today. This photo shows (from lefet to right) Mabel Caines, Charles Snow of Norris Point and Amy Payne walking from Norris Point to Winter House Brook across the frozen arm.  Charles was home on leave from the Navy.
