When drift ice fills the outer part of Bonne Bay and the arms freeze over all the little communities around the bay are accessable to anyone who is willing to walk.  Occasionally snowshoes are needed.  In the early days most residents travelled by horse and dogteam.  Snowmobiles are popular today.
