We could have listed all organizations for you, but in order to save time
we will teach you how to find local organizations on-line or in your area.
We have listed sites that show various First Nations organizations and
where they can be found.
Step One
What are you looking for? Basic search online and in real time.
Step Two
Now that you know what you're looking for, try a Search Engine. You will
find a few in the Resource
Page. Type in the name of what you are looking for, and the Search
Engine will return numerous links to applicable pages. Tip: Read the Help
section for that particular search engine to make your search more efficient.
Canada
411 is a good place to start with its directory, phone book and yellow
pages. Just type in what you are looking for (for example, if it's youth
organizations you would type "youth" in the business name field, or you
can type in the name of the organization). Make sure the location is typed
in too. There is also a Yellow Pages website that can be searched the same
way.
Step Three
If the searches don't produce the results you need, then you can start
with your local centres such as Friendship Centres. Ask for information
on the organizations you're looking for, and they should be able to help
you or point you in the right direction. The local community centres would
have info about other organizations and the happenings around town. Have
fun looking for organizations that work with youth or are youth related.
There are many forums that can come in handy when asking about local or
national organizations. Here is our list server that we are going to use
for this site so that youths can share their ideas and other thoughts about
culture.
