Canon Canada's dealer network is one of the most extensive and successful in North America. The members of this group are among the most respected businesses in their communities. Strong business managers with solid commitments to their communities, these experienced sales and service team members ensure uniform support for Canon's products throughout the country.

In August of 1987, Canon Inc. celebrated its 50th year of operation. Established in 1937 as a small camera manufacturer in Tokyo, Japan, Canon has become the world's quintessential high-tech organization in the field of image information processing.

The essential component behind all of Canon's products is technology. Technology has no boundaries; whether in production, quality control, distribution or management, it is truly an international resource. To develop it, refine it, and give it back to the world in the form of newer and better photographic, industrial, medical and business-equipment products, is Canon's commitment. In 1987, Canon filed a total of 887 patent registrations in the USA and ranks first in the world for creativity, research and development, as measured by this yardstick.

Canon believes that private enterprise has a role above and beyond simply making a profit. In today's world, fragmented by political, economic, religious, cultural and other borders, private enterprise has a special niche to fill. Private enterprise can reach beyond these' divisions, provide a world-wide perspective on issues and bring people together. To this end Canon is an active corporate sponsor of numerous charities and events throughout the world.

By further backing commitments with advanced technologies, Canon has helped "challenged" individuals lead more independent and productive lives. One example of the application of its advanced technology is the Canon Communicator. This small portable typewriter/tape-display provides people with speech impairments the power of communication. Each year Canon donates hundreds of these systems to disabled people throughout the world.

Canon is committed to the future of the communities that host its facilities. Specifically, Canon creates employment, pays taxes, reinvests profits, develops export opportunities, and promotes technological development in the communities in which it operates. A multi-million dollar manufacturing facility in Virginia and an environmental testing facility in Calgary, Alberta are only two of its many facilities throughout the world.

Canon's corporate mission is to make a positive contribution to the betterment of mankind and the environments in which he operates. Dedicated to the proposition that our world is one, and that mutually rewarding coexistence is the key to true success, the Company pledges to conduct business in this spirit and encourages a global perspective wherever possible.
