The Golden Griddle Corporation
Celebrating 30 Delicious Years

What was started by entrepreneur Harold McDonnell on May 2, 1964, as a small 60-seat restaurant at the corner of Redpath and Eglinton Avenues in central Toronto has become one of Canada’s most popular chain of family restaurants.

Golden Griddle Family Restaurants, now more than thirty years old, serves millions of customers each year throughout most major cities in Ontario.

Its history, moreover, is not just one of serving a wide variety of delicious homestyle breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. It also exemplifies a tradition that includes a dedication and a personal commitment to serving the many communities where this proud, all-Canadian family restaurant chain has chosen to locate.

Golden Griddle franchisees, suppliers, and customers are always busy helping to raise funds for Golden Griddle Children’s Charities, a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to assisting needy children.

The franchisees of Golden Griddle Family Restaurants are proud to be a part of a great Canadian foodservice tradition proclaiming: “Golden Griddle.... We’re not fast food — we’re great food fast.”
