Born
in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1924, Professor Edward Safarian is very much aware
of his ancestral roots linking him to Armenia, the homeland of both his
parents who were forced to flee their native land earlier this century.
Formerly, President, Canadian Economics Association, and Dean, School of
Graduate Studies, University of Toronto, this distinguished research scholar
and much respected university professor of International Economics and
Canadian Public Policy is, today, one of Canada’s leading economists on
international trade issues and matters vitally important to Canada’s prominent
role on the world’s economic stage. [Photo, courtesy Edward Safarian]
