Marketing Aerospace Technology
Born, 1949, Angleur, Belgium, Jean Colpin has spent nearly an equal amount of time on three continents. Raised in the Belgian Congo where his father was pursuing an expatriate career, Jean Colpin returned to Belgium to attend university, completing his M.A. in Mechanical Engineering, Université de Liège, 1973, graduating with a doctoral degree in Fluid Dynamics from the Von Karman Institute, 1977, and teaching there until 1981 when he joined F.N., a Belgian Aerospace firm. When he had an opportunity to join a market leader in engine propulsion, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and participate in the design and development of their products, he and his entire family journeyed as immigrants to Canada, 1985. Today, Jean Colpin is Vice President, Engineering, for Pratt & Whitney which today is the world leader in small gas turbine engines. Mr. Colpin has never regretted making Canada his home. Like their father, his daughter and son are both engineers. As Jean says, “Canada has been for us a land of opportunity where we have been, my family and I, able to develop, have fun, and contribute.” In this contemporary view, Jean Colpin conducts a seminar on site at Longueuil, Quebec.
