Born and educated in Zlatograd, Bulgaria, Dr. Konstantin Valtchev practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist in Bulgaria, Ethiopia, and South Africa before immigrating to Canada, 1972. Today, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Toronto, Dr. Valtchev’s private practice is affiliated with Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital. A number of patents are registered in his name, including the Valtchev Uterine Mobilizer which is used worldwide in the fields of Gynecology and Endoscopy. A strong proponent for Canadian unity ever since he immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, in 1952, after studying law in Paris, Bulgarian-born Anton Tchipeff was elected Chairman of the Bulgarian National Committee created to coincide with Canada’s centennial celebrations in 1967. From 1986-92, he was Assistant Deputy Minister for the Government of Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communications.
