Fernando Sinn, born in Santiago, obtained an industrial-mechanical engineering degree at the Catholic University of Chile. Fernando and his wife Cecilia left Chile with their first-born daughter in 1971. Fernando, who followed a manufacturing management career in the appliance business, and then with a Toronto-based engineering company, developed automotive operations in South America, is currently an international marketing executive with Magna International Inc.
