Shortly
after the conclusion of World War II, when he was eight years old, Adam
Policzer left Hungary, his place of birth, and immigrated with his family
to Chile. Graduating in architecture from the University of Chile, Santiago,
in 1964, Adam was employed to work for the Ministry of Housing during the
Allende regime. In 1975, he arrived in British Columbia with his wife and
three young children. Obtaining membership in the Architectural Institute
of B.C., he formed a partnership with another Chilean exile, Julio Gomberoff,
and launched into developing social housing projects, his firm winning
many awards for design and heritage. He is viewed here, left, in 1998,
with former British Columbia Premier, Glen Clark, at the new site of an
apartment building for the Lions Paraplegic Lodge Society, East Vancouver.
