Amelia Jiménez immigrated to Canada from Chile in 1977 after completing her studies in printmaking at the Catholic University of Chile. She quickly learned English, enrolling at the Ontario College of Art in 1980. By 1982, she was studying at Studio Camnitzer, near Luca, Italy. Invited to Bogota, Colombia, in 1984, Amelia was part of an international team of artists paying homage to Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner, Pablo Neruda. Today, this multi-media expressionist, as viewed here, whose acclaimed works have been exhibited in Chile, Canada, Germany, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia, and Puerto Rico, is an education officer with the Art Gallery of Ontario and works with young people to encourage their creative expression.
