Pal Esterházy founded a colony of Hungarians on the Canadian Prairies in 1896. His dream was to establish a "new Hungary" in Canada’s far west. The town of Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, which bears his name today, is geographically located near the largest potash mine in the world. This view of Count Pal Esterházy was taken, circa, 1890. He died in New York City in 1912. [Photo, courtesy The Hungarian Canadian Cultural Centre]
