Specialist in Steam Systems
Above, left: Born, Baroda (now Vadodra), India, 1945, Farokh K. Pavri, a Zoroastrian who attended a Jesuit school before graduating in engineering from Pune University, 1971, began a life-long career as an engineer specializing in steam systems. After three years of employment with Spirax/Sarco, in Pune, his company transferred him to Iran. There he met and married Shirin, another Zoroastrian. They lived in Tehran for nearly six years before immigrating to Canada, 1980. Settling in the Toronto area, over the last 20 years, Farokh, past president, Toastmasters’ Club, Streetsville Chapter, has worked for the largest steam ancillary equipment manufacturer in the world. Regional Sales Manager for Spirax/Sarco, Farokh has been involved in the sales, marketing, and installation of virtually all major steam systems in southern Ontario since immigrating to Canada. Both Farokh and Shirin are proud parents of two sons, both of whom are following the boating interests of their parents. Both sons are recognized Gold Sailors with the Canadian Yachting Association and both teach sailing and sail racing. In this view Farokh and Shirin stand next to their 36-foot yacht (aptly named Sails Call to honour his passion for sailing and selling), moored at Etobicoke Yacht Club. [Photo, courtesy Farokh Pavri]
