Fighting for Human Rights Worldwide
Stan Thomas traces his roots to that part of Macedonia which had been annexed by Greece at the end of the First Balkan War, 1912-13. His father’s Macedonian surname, Bozinov, was hellenized to Bozinis and when he immigrated to Canada, 1930, settling in Windsor, Ontario, his name was anglicized to Thomas. It was 17 years before Boris (Stan’s father) was able to send for his wife and family to join him because of the intervening Depression and World War II, but once the war was over, his wife and two children joined him in Windsor. The very next year, Boris and Dana Thomas became the proud parents of Stan, today, Senior Executive Vice President, Marketing, Shoppers Drug Mart. A graduate MBA, York University, Stan is an individual who has not neglected his Macedonian roots. When the Kosovo crisis erupted, 1999, Stan Thomas spear headed a drive to send four million dollars worth of pharmaceutical supplies to Macedonia which had been flooded by thousands of Kosovo refugees. Director, Canadia Macedonian Senior Citizen’s Centre, Toronto, since 1979, andPresident, 1990-93, Stan Thomas assists in guiding many of thecharitable activities of Shoppers Drug Mart which, in consort with the Blue Jays Charitable Foundation, has teamed up to help kids in distress across Canada. Thanks to this partnership, Kids Help Phone received $500 from Shoppers Drug Mart and the Blue Jays Charitable Foundation for every Blue Jay home run hit out of the park, 1999.
