He
was 31 years old when he arrived in Canada as a landed immigrant. Born
in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Roberto Cruz Cid, his wife and two children
chose Montreal as their destination, 1989, because the whole family could
speak French as well as Spanish. Because he had worked in the tourist and
trade sectors in Mexico before coming to Canada, Roberto had acquired the
necessary geographic and cultural knowledge of Mexico to make him an asset
in Canada, especially for companies seeking to establish meaningful trade
links with Mexico. To upgrade his qualifications, Roberto took international
trade courses in Montreal, becoming a much sought out qualified candidate
to guide and direct international trucking transportation between Canada
and Mexico. Today, Roberto works for SGT 2000 Inc., an international transport
company where he helps manage the import and export of goods between Mexico
and Canada. He also assists Canadian companies on the lookout for trade
opportunities, there by facilitating business relationships between Canadian
and Mexican companies. In this view, Roberto stands next to a SGT transportation
