Originally from Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines, Ma-Anne Dionisio immigrated with her family to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1990. Two years later, she was playing a lead role in Experience Canada: Spirit of a Nation, a musical which toured Canada and was written to commemorate Canada’s 125th anniversary as a nation. The next year Ma-Anne was selected to play the lead role of Kim in Miss Saigon, a part she performed for the entire two-year run of the show in Toronto. Most recently, she starred in both Asia and South Africa in the international touring production of Les Miserables. For the 1999 season at Ontario’s Stratford Festival, Ma-Anne played the lead role of Maria in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. [Photo, courtesy Butler Ruston Bell Talent Associates Inc.]
