Making
Daily Deposits into Emotional Bank Accounts
Born, Izmir, Turkey, Faruk
Bahadirli came to Canada from his native land in the late 1960s as a computer
programmer. Having graduated in Electrical Engineering, Middle East Technical
University, Ankara, Turkey, Faruk has worked over a 30-year period in Canada
as a Programmer Analyst/Systems Analyst in Information Systems for a number
of Canadian companies, including Snap-on-Tools, Jacuzzi, Dr. Scholl’s-Maybelline,
Canadian Standards Association, and Business Depot where he currently is
employed as a Programmer Analyst. Active in a wide cross-section of community
service, Faruk has been Board Member, Rexdale (Etobicoke) Home Day Care,
for seven consecutive years. He is a volunteer producer and announcer for
the Turkish Radio called Radyo Merhaba, AM 1540/FM 101.3, Toronto. He is
also a Founding Board Member of the Turkish Canadian Community Centre.
To keep relation-ships healthy and to maintain high levels of trust, Faruk
Bahadirli makes “daily deposits” into the “emotional bank accounts” of
others. In this view, Faruk is addressing the largest-ever gathering of
Turkish Canadians (1,500) who assembled at Seneca College, 1998, to celebrate
the 75th anniversary of the Founding of the Republic of Turkey, 1923. A

up against the flag of Turkey. [Photo, courtesy Faruk Bahadirli]
