Adrift for five days on the
South China Sea in a Vietnamese refugee boat in 1980, Ninh Van Vuand his
six-year-old son Quôc Thuân and 211 other Vietnamese boat people
were rescued by a West German merchant ship, Cap Anamur, and taken to a
refugee camp at Singapore where they stayed for nearly five months before
immigrating to Canada as refugees. Eighteen years later, Canadian Quôc
Thuân, as viewed here, graduated from the University of Waterloo
in Electrical Engineering in the presence of his proud family. [Photo,
