In
the early 1980s, Dr. Lê Ba Tôn Nu and her husband Châu
Vo co-founded the Hong Lac Music and Dance Ensemble in Ontario to perpetuate
the legacy of traditional Vietnamese music. One of the two central instruments
of music in Vietnam is the Dan Tranh or 16-string sitar as viewed here
played by Anne Châu-Phô Vo. This amateur group has performed
throughout Ontario and Quebec, the French Pyrénées, Belgium,
as well as Washington, D.C. [Photo, courtesy John D. Chu]
