History of Leroy

In 1922, Leroy was incorporated as a village and as a town in 1963. The town was named after John LeRoy, who gave his life in World War I. The first school was built in 1907. LeRoy was linked with Lanigan and Watson by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1920. In 1947, its hospital officially opened. The hospital was closed down on July 20, 1969.
