Dr. George Heidgerken was born in 1898 in Browerville, Minn. In 1904, when he was six years old. the Heidgerken family moved to Humboldt and it was in this community that he completed elementary and high school. In 1918, George went on to attend the Royal College of Dentistry at the University of Toronto. (It was the closest school of dentistry at hat time.) After four to five years of education is the field of dentistry, George received the degree of Doctor of Dentistry and returned to Humboldt. He worked as an apprentice with Dr King in his practice in Humboldt for one year,and then Dr. Heidgerken |
set up his own practice on the main floor of the Windsor Hotel. He remained in that location for 60 years until his retirement. In 1928, Dr. Heidgerken married Rose Mallett. The couple had two children, Rodger and Helen. Throughout his life Dr. Heidgerken was involved in many community clubs and organizations. He was a member of Town Council, a trustee on the Humboldt Collegiate and St. Augustine Church boards. He was also a Grand Knight of the Humboldt Council of the Knights of Columbus. and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Dr. Heidgerken died in Januarv 1989 at the age of 91. |
