CHRISM MASS

In 1992, the Chrism Mass was celebrated for the first time in the Muenster Diocese. Bishop Blaise Morand of Prince Albert was the guest celebrant. The consecration of the Sacred Chrism used for ordination and for the consecration of churches is reserved to a bishop.

By special permission, Abbot Peter Novecosky blessed the oil in 1995, due to the shortage of bishops that year. Previous to 1992, the Oil of Catechumens, the Sacred Chrism and the Oil of the Sick were picked up from the Saskatoon Diocese.
