In 1988, Science North received a huge privately-held mineral collection. It was donated to the centre by the estate of Mr. Clifford Vickery. Mr. Vickery was an avid mineral collector for his entire life, and his huge collection has become an integral part of the exhibit program at Science North and the Big Nickel Mine. Some of the specimens are displayed at the centre, and Mr. Vickery's passion for collecting is used to inspire new generations of geologists and mineralogists.
