Lucy Maud Montgomery Macdonald died on April 24, 1942. Ewan, Chester, and Stuart accompanied her body to Prince Edward Island for burial in the Cavendish cemetery. L. M. Montgomery’s legacy lives on—all of her books are still in print and some short stories were published posthumously. Her stories and books have been adapted to the stage, television, and film. And her beautiful depictions of Island communities and landscapes that have attracted so many visitors have, most importantly, made Islanders appreciate the wonderful and magical Island they call home.
