For Maud, one of the highlights of 1935 was her investiture with the insignia of the Order of the British Empire. Montgomery is shown here dressed to attend the ceremony. This honour was bestowed by the Governor General of Canada, Lord Bessborough, in recognition for her great accomplishment and contribution as a Commonwealth author.
