"On Dec. 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbour. The hysteria that followed jeopardized the acceptance that the Japanese pioneers had won in Canada after many years."

"South Alberta Japanese leaders have avowed their loyalty to Canada and the actual declaration of war and armed action by Japan came as a shock to them. A number of Raymond Japanese are in the Canadian army." The Lethbridge Herald (Dec. 8, 1941).
