The genesis of the project to rediscover the actual site of the P.S. Lady Sherbrooke may be traced back to a variety of points. It was in 1979 that members of the CHASQ met with John Morgan, a distant descendant of John Molson. Mr. Morgan spoke of a channel that had separated Ile Charron from Ile Sainte-Maguerite. The latter island was once owned by the family and was the location of their summer home. It was in the channel that the Molson family had their shipyard.
Newspaper reports dating from the 1950s and 1960s described accounts of divers discovering large pieces of wood and possibly the wreck of an early steamer in the area. The diver Marcel Fecteau and the archivist J. Raymond Deneault, see in the images below, truly set the interest in this subject in motion.
