Artefact

Artefacts - Mailbox

Artefacts

This artefact is the oldest known mailbox in Canada. It was used to transport letters on the P.S. Lady Sherbrooke decades before Canada Post was established. The images here show the name "Lady Sherbrooke" which appears faintly on the front of the box, and "mailbox" on one side.

The relatively good condition of this artefact results from the fact that it was recovered from an antique dealer.
