Establishing the Position of the
P.S. Lady Sherbrooke

In order to properly locate the wreck of the P.S. Lady Sherbrooke within a three dimensional space a series of measurements, both on a horizontal and vertical plane, were undertaken. The importance of doing this is obvious when considering that the depth of the water, one apparent source for judging the location of the wreck, could change from day to day not to mention from year to year.

In order to ascertain a vertical level near the site a point on the shoreline was measured in reference to an established official indicator. This point was then extended into the water with a series of triangular grids marking out points along the wreck. While difficult to visualize this positioning of the boat is very important as it allows for a clear understanding of relative locations for each artefact.
