What Location Tells Us About an Artefact

With every artefact discovered more information can be gathered about the design and usage of the P.S. Lady Sherbrooke. For example, while they were only fragments of plates, the recovery of chinaware allows for some insight into the tastes of the period. The location of the discovery assists in the analysis of who would use specific objects and for what purposes.

Plates Rivets

The location for the discovery of individual parts of the ship allow for a recreation of the vessel. Objects such as the rivets which were left after the boiler was removed clearly show the thickness of the metal pieces taken. The location of every recovered object is carefully catalogued to reinforce or correct conceptions of where objects would have been used on board the Lady Sherbrooke.
