Marjorie May Spenceley (1897-1995) was born and died in London, Ontario. She was one of a large group of amateur local women who painted for their own enjoyment. Many of this group took lessons from Eva Bradshaw and were involved in the Western Art League. Spenceley was married to a university professor and participated in many local art exhibitions. Her accomplished work was accepted in the first seven of the Annual Western Ontario Exhibitions (1941-1947) at the new art gallery. Spenceley was one of several artists honoured for her contributions to the local art scene at the Fiftieth Anniversary of the institution in 1990.
