Eveyln May born from Los Angeles, California, arrived in Vernon July 3, 1915 to marry Charles. They were married at 1:00AM, July 4, 1915. They newlyweds settled on the ranch later known as the Copeland Ranch, with Dave and Nellie Inglis.

Charles started a garage in 1921 first known as Bloom and Anndre. Mr. Sigalet bought out Andre in 1923 and the garage is still known today as Bloom and Sigalet. Charles was also secretary-treasurer of the school board for 17 years before they consolidated in 1954. After, he stayed with the school district board until the day he died.

It was during this long term in office that he gave the land for the secondary school. It was his dedication to local education that caused the people of Lumby to call the new high school, "Charles Bloom."

In the year 1943 Bloom and Sigalet bought the original ranch that Charlie had brought this bride to, along with the Genier and Cristian ranches, making a ranch of about 1,000 acres, 700 of which were undere cultivation. Both Charles and Evelyn were very active people and made wealthy contributions to the community.
