Edward George Dooley

Edward George Dooley was born in Duluth, in 1887. He moved to the Lake-of-the-Woods area in Ontario and later moved west to Lumby in 1919. His first employment was a camp cook for various logging outfits in the Sugar Lake area.

In 1923, he operated a restaurant next to the Elementary School which was once the Post Office, the library, and now the Family Cafˇ. He recalls it to be the first building and store in Lumby. In 1933, he moved into another building on Shuswap Avenue now a Boutique shop with apartments upstairs. There, he operated a restaurant, bakery and confectionery.

Mrs. Annie Dooley was born in Ireland. They had two children, Jennie and George.
