Cleophas LeBlanc moved to the White Valley area in 1889 with his parents when he was two years old. As a young man Cloephas pre-empted and homesteaded properties in the Blue Springs area, one mile from where his parents lived. He was keenly interested in horses, and was a member of the Wartime Horses Cavalry. He played soccer with the Lumby team.

Tom met Rita Brandle in 1920, the following year they were married on May 22nd, 1921. They lived in Lumby for a short time and then returned to the Blue Springs homestead. They had five children, Alphonse, Charles, Theresa, Isabella and Denise.
