Albert was a farmer for many years working for Mr. Kempton. In 1924 he left farming and joined the Provincial Fish and Game Department as a game warden for the North Okanagan he remained in the position for 4 years and was then transferred to the BC Police, where he became Lumby's first police constable. He served as constable until he retired in 1950.

His task was not an easy one in a community made up of so many friends and family members. Even so, he held the respect of most people. Today he would have been known as a prevention officer.
